It is impossible to exclude that Kiev will use loss of the strong leader of Donbass "to bury" "the Minsk process" and even to intensify military operations. However it would become political madness as it is obvious that Moscow won't allow military defeat of the DPR and LPR Georgy Bovt. Photo: Mikhail of Fomichev/TASS In Donetsk tens of thousands of people have come to say goodbye to the leader of the self-proclaimed DPR Alexander Zakharchenko killed as a result of terrorist attack. According to the Russian President's Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov, "Zakharchenko's death, certainly, leads to increase in tension in the region that in itself, of course, doesn't promote formation of conditions for an exit at least to prospect of the beginning of implementation of the Minsk agreements". He has reported also that the president Vladimir Putin doesn't plan contacts with the acting head of the DPR Dmitry Trapeznikov who has assumed Zakharchenko's powers yet. Putin has expressed condolences in connection with death of the leader of the DPR earlier and has said: "Mean murder of Alexander Zakharchenko is the one more certificate: those who have chosen a way of terror, violence, intimidation don't want to look for a peace, political solution to the conflict, don't want to conduct real dialogue with inhabitants of the southeast". At the same time still specific suspects aren't called, and charges are brought to nobody. How will Zakharchenko's murder affect a situation in the southeast of Ukraine? Georgy Bovt's comment. Regardless of the one who stood behind terrorist attack — the Ukrainian agents or Zakharchenko's opponents from among applicants for the control levers which were in his hands the most different processes — murder of the head of the DPR will strongly complicate a situation in the self-proclaimed republic and around her. At least, will reduce controllability a situation. Zakharchenko closed on himself practically all control levers: he was both the head of the DPR, and the chairman of the board of ministers, and the Supreme Commander, he controlled trade in coal and export him out of borders of the DPR. On him all important contacts with Moscow, both with political "curators", and with security officers, it was simpler to them to deal with one clear leader have been closed, whatever disagreements with him sometimes arose, than with uncertain crowd of ill-matched field commanders. Elections on which the candidates equal to Zakharchenko on influence and charisma, it isn't looked through yet are planned for November 18 in the DPR. Date of elections has been agreed, including, and during consultations within "the Minsk process". Also it isn't clear yet whether their transfer is possible, it would undermine even more this process which already slips. The speaker of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin, however, in connection with Zakharchenko's murder has said that "the Minsk process" thereby "is nullified". To some extent he is right: Zakharchenko's signature costs under the Minsk Agreement about settlement in the southeast of Ukraine. There is also a signature of Igor Plotnitsky who is earlier moved away from a post of the head of the Luhansk People's Republic as a result of a revolution at the end of 2017 there. Which, by the way, since then, apparently, nobody saw. It, at first sight, gives the grounds
