Iran and Syria have agreed about further military cooperation. The USA and Israel are anxious with such prospect — they have started talking again about threat of chemical attack which Russia already called the preparing provocation. How can events develop? Georgy Bovt. Photo: Mikhail of Fomichev/TASS with a two-day visit has visited Syria the Minister of Defence of Iran Amir Khatami. Following the results of a meeting a number of agreements on military cooperation and about participation of Iran in post-war restoration of Syria is signed. The representative of Tehran at the same time has said that "no third country can influence presence of the Iranian military advisers in Syria" and he isn't going to bring the military from there. Meanwhile the other day the adviser for national security of the USA John Bolton discussed a problem of a conclusion of the Iranian and pro-Iranian formations from the Syrian Arab Republic with the Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Nikolay Patrushev. How can events develop further? The political scientist Georgy Bovt comments. Withdrawal of the Iranian formations and also the Lebanese Hezbollah supported by Tehran from Syria is the main tactical task not only the USA, but also Israel. Israel is strongly concerned about the prospect of appearance of the Iranian military directly near the borders on the Golan heights and puts an immediate goal at least their branch on distance not less than 100 kilometers. The matter was brought up during the Russian-Israeli summit talks more than once. During such contacts Moscow has been notified that Israel reserves the right to strike blows to the Iranian formations and military facilities in Syria, at the same time the understanding has been reached that the Russian military won't interfere with it. During Patrushev and Bolton's recent negotiations in Geneva the parties, it seems, have reached agreement that Russia supports the termination of the Iranian military presence in Syria. About same in Helsinki in July Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump spoke. However now the visit of the Iranian Minister of Defence to Damascus became some kind of confirmation of words of Putin who has allegedly told Trump that Moscow not in forces to achieve these objectives alone, the Russian-American interaction is required here. In any case, so it has sounded in retelling of John Bolton who thus referred also to the negotiations with the Russian president in Moscow on the eve of Helsinki. In Syria there are thousands of Iranian military advisers and also divisions of Shiite militia and the Lebanese Hezbollah supported by Iran. All these formations have given strong support to Bashar al-Assad's troops during conducting ground operations against Islamists. Damascus can't but be at least grateful to the allies. In the nearest future government troops are going to undertake the last and decisive approach in northern Idlib Governorate which is the last large stronghold of Islamists, generally from among the banned Jabhat al-Nusra and ISIL (it is forbidden in the Russian Federation). In anticipation of this approach Washington has made a number of strong statements, having threatened that it in a case is applied
