In Baku the German chancellor agreed on quite ambitious plans for supply of local gas to Germany and other EU countries. After recently legal status of the Caspian Sea has been settled, through Azerbaijan also Turkmenistan, and then Iraq and Iran can begin to pump the hydrocarbons, and this polywater childbirth to Europe bypassing Russia will begin to flow. However, so far it is only plans. The Azerbaijani Shah Deniz field not from the largest and infrastructure in a construction stage. In two years Azerbaijan will be able to deliver to Europe only about 10 billion cubic meters a year. Then capacities will increase, but not much more. Vladimir Feygin the president of Institute of power and finance "The southern gas corridor is already implemented, the project is started. He will move gradually and again to the southern regions of Europe too. A question, of course, in resources. What is offered today, is 16 billion cubes, they are painted. They will force out traditional gas from Italy a little, for example, and, maybe, thereby will create opportunities for additional supply of Northern Europe, Germany, but these are after all very limited things". For comparison, the Russian Nord Stream works almost at a limit of loading today and delivers to the EU 51 billion cubic meters a year. How will realization of the Southern corridor affect the market of energy supplies? Gennady Shmal the president of the Union of oil and gas producers "At Azerbaijan isn't present free gas in sufficient volume today. He extracts only about 22 billion cubes. For the serious gas pipeline it, of course, isn't enough therefore such gas pipeline will never be profitable. I believe that all these questions which are connected with any country having oil and gas to some extent can infringe on our interests. But we have rather serious, good base, we have rather good and low prices, so far as concerns gas, and we can always be competitive with any countries which can appear in the gas market, including in Europe". The southern corridor intends to provide quite competitive prices. Other question is safety of transit. During the Caucasian tour Merkel has said that she is ready to take part in a solution of the problem of Nagorno-Karabakh. Pavel Salin the director of the Center of politological researches of Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation "Merkel needs it for one simple reason: it is necessary that in all transit territory there was a stable military-political situation. The potential conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh doesn't promote it. For this reason Merkel has also said that she is ready to act as the additional guarantor from destabilization of a situation in Karabakh. Merkel it
