Despite it, hundreds of houses are waterlogged, several settlements are cut off from other edge, the rivers have flooded banks, has washed out roads, classes at schools are cancelled, train service is stopped, the managing director of department of news of ASTV Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk radio station Anastasia Zhukova tells: "The typhoon has begun to approach the South of Sakhalin this morning. At first there was strong wind, the same heavy rain turning into heavy rain has begun then. In the southern areas bad weather has quickly enough stopped. Because of wind since morning have cancelled classes of the first change practically in all southern and central regions of Sakhalin, kindergartens operated normally as very few people released parents from work. Already by a lunch, at least in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, the situation with weather has a little settled down. In three hours that the gale-force wind stormed, it broke slate from roofs, glass stops, has tumbled down a huge number of trees, trees fell also on wires that has provoked cutoff of light in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk and in suburbs. Besides, trees fell on cowls of cars, punched them, but, fortunately, it was without victims. After a lunch the typhoon has begun to move already to the center and to the North of Sakhalin, in the center there was the strongest brunt of the disaster. Now 15 villages on the island remain without electricity, partially deenergized several regional centers. In Makarov there will be biggest consequences from elements: several mudflows have gone to the route and the railroad. Cars can't pass, trains have risen. Besides, in Makarov the mudflow has descended also on a reservoir, has hammered a dam, the city remains without water". Air traffic with Sakhalin is also interrupted, Zhukova says. According to her, in the region there is no panic as the population is ready to elements. Points of the emergency help work, but aren't crowded.
