RUSAL became the initiator of return. How safe will be modern wires with veins from aluminum alloys? Photo: depositphotos.com B March of the next year will return to the Russian houses aluminum conducting. As Izvestia writes, use of cables of new type at construction of housing was approved by the profile ministries. Aluminum conducting was applied in the Soviet Union. In the nineties its began to change for copper. Then because of overheating of cables in apartments the fires have become frequent: in apartments began to install in large quantities washing machines, electric kettles and the other equipment, and conducting has been simply not calculated on the raised loading. Use of aluminum wires was forbidden in 2003. And now the Ministry of Construction has approved changes in the set of rules allowing to apply cables with veins from aluminum alloys. The Ministry of Energy, Minpromtorg and Rosstandart have supported an innovation. As far as they are safe? Boris Korol the commercial director of Termoelektrika "From the point of view of safety, of course, aluminum — the conductor much the worst, than copper. We remember it from a school course of physics. Respectively, amount of heat which is generated in aluminum conducting, and in contact connections with aluminum conducting, above. And probability of an oplavleniye which can lead to ignition and the fire, naturally, too above. How to fight against it? To increase supervision, to use the technical tool which signals about excess of temperature and to improve quality of installation". RUSAL became the initiator of return of wires with veins from aluminum alloys. The company has laid the foundation for discussion of this question in the government in 2016, but it has approached a final stage just now. The director of group of the AKRA corporate ratings Maxim Hudalov of special problems with conducting of aluminum doesn't see: main — that the section of wires was to the conforming present standards. At the same time the benefit is obvious to RUSAL, Hudalov says. In Russia last year nearly 80 million square meters of housing have been constructed. Maxim Hudalov the director of group of the AKRA corporate ratings "Proceeding from the general consumption of metal, by very rough estimates, this volume of the built housing "eats" 200 thousand tons. In principle, it is quite good volume of the Russian deliveries, all Russia consumes about 850-900 thousand tons. If 200 thousand by the maximum option increase, then it is almost 25 percent growth of domestic market. The aluminum wire costs about 3500-4000 dollars for ton. And as for safety if all rules are respected, then it is absolutely safe. And now in modern houses after all began to watch a condition of conducting. Therefore I think that this decision doesn't bear any system risks". RUSAL has noted that it is not about the Soviet production, and about new cables, safe for application in construction. It is about wires with veins from aluminum alloys which part are also iron, copper and some other metals. Production of such alloys is already developed on Kandalakshsk and Irka
